On January 26, 1926 a gift from heaven was born unto Juan and Maria Montanez and they named her Ofelia. Ofelia would be raised in a very loving home and with her proper upbringing and education behind her, she had the tools to leave her permanent mark on our world.
Ofelia was romanced by the love of her lifetime and married Raul Renteria Galindo on February 26, 1944. Ofelia and Raul created a lifetime of memories that included the birth of 11 children. Although Ofelia had various jobs throughout her life, the greatest achievement and passion was that of being the best wife, homemaker, grandmother and great-grandmother.
The marriage of Raul and Ofelia would last 59 years of wedded bliss until the unfortunate demise of Raul on April 15, 2003. Heaven, was now preparing a place and a time of reunion when Ofelia would join Raul when God would call her home.
On Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 11:10 p.m. the time arrived for Ofelia to take her last breath on earth and enter into Eternal Life to join so many others that preceded her in death including her parents, Raul and son Mario.
Ofelia's legacy of love and dedication to family is one that will be cherished by all of those who knew and loved her; especially her surviving children: Raul Galindo, Rebecca Galindo, Armando Galindo, Robert Galindo, Andrew Galindo, Ruben Galindo, Sandra Cabral, Mary Helen Arras, Richard Galindo, Raymond Galindo, 14 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren.
The following poem "Weep" was pre-selected by Ofelia in dedication to all those she knew and loved so deeply.
"Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond's glint on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn's rain. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there. I did not die."
